The DMajor Project began as an off-shoot of musicians from ‘The Jon Bates Band’, a long established group that has played many events, parties, weddings and clubs on the Vineyard for decades. However, the concept is completely different! 

Although often referred to as “an improvisational jazz group”, that only describes one aspect of what their music really is. More accurately, The DMajor Project  performs everything from folk to jazz to classic soul, Latin, neo-funk, world beat, roots and pop music, but not like the original recordings! They take popular songs from every era, in all different genres and styles, and make them their own, by often completely rearranging, reharmonizing and rhythmically transforming them. 

The current incarnation of The DMajor Project is centered around the mesmerizing vocal stylings of DEBBIE MAJOR (“D. Major”) accompanied by the extraordinary talents of KEN McGLOIN (guitar), KENDALL BUCHANAN (bass), and JON BATES (drums & percussion).

For this Woodstove Studios concert on Sunday, August 16^th, they will be joined by a very special guest and Debbie’s longtime vocal partner, the inimitable STEVE RIDDICK! It is also very likely that an additional featured guest soloist or two will make an appearance, but you’ll have to come to this very special event to find out!
